THIRTY-SEVEN Thomasians hurdled the August 2023 licensure exams for mechanical engineers, according to results posted by the Professional Regulation Commission.

The 37 passers came from a pool of 74 takers, good for a 50% passing rate. 

UST’s passing rate slid from 60 percent in the February 2023 exams, in which 78 out of 130 Thomasians passed. 

Roy Oro of Cebu Institute of Technology University led the batch of new mechanical engineers with a score of 94.60 percent.

De La Salle University was named the top-performing school in the exams after recording a 96.88-percent passing rate, with 62 out of its 64 examinees making the cut.

The national passing rate for mechanical engineers in the August 2023 cycle dipped 50.34 percent (2,133 of 4,237) from 62.17 percent (3,774 of 6,070) in February. 

The examinations were held from Aug. 5 to 6.
