THE UST Lady Booters’ struggles continued on Saturday after losing to the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 2-0, for the first time in eight years in their UAAP Season 86 women’s football tournament encounter at the UP Diliman Football Pitch.

Ateneo last won against UST in the second round of the Season 78 women’s football tournament on April 23, 2016. This also marked the Blue Eagles’ first win in five years since they defeated the UP Fighting Maroons on March 20, 2019.

The Lady Booters ended the first round winless, while Ateneo secured the fourth spot with a 1-2-1 win-loss-draw card.

Ateneo’s striker Angely Alferez found Tootchie Eval, who converted late in the 89th minute to give the Blue Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Taking advantage of UST’s crumbling defense, Eval completed her brace with another goal in extra time.

After four matches in the first round, UST only scored one goal in total. Christy Logastua converted the Lady Booters’ lone goal of the round in their 5-1 loss to De La Salle University.

The league has yet to announce the schedule for the second round.
