THE IMPACT of poverty and disaster on the family as an institution, and the role of Christian faith in the survival of families were discussed in a forum, “Are Poor Families Good News for us Christians?,” conducted by the Philippine Church Communicators’ Network (PCCNet) at the Titus Brandsma Center in Cubao, Quezon City last September 18. The forum, its organizers said, was in preparation for the Fourth World Meeting of Families next year.

WITH the 65th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) halfway through, fans of the country’s top collegiate league have yet to see the broadcast coverage of the non-basketball events on Studio 23.
Studio 23, operated by television giant ABS-CBN, promised fans of the league to cover to the league’s other sporting events after acquiring the rights to broadcast the 63rd season of the UAAP in 2000.

Spanish picture in motion
IF YOU are looking for the cathartic experience from watching a movie, then this film is not for you.
With its typical European non-linear plot development, Retrato de Mujer con Hombre, doesn’t play with exposition, climax, or denouement. It doesn’t give Sophist-like preaching and leaves all the realization to the audience.

Ballet for the masses
MOST people think ballet is boring.
But Ballet Manila’s (BM) full-length performance of the classic Giselle last Sept. 29 at the Star Theater at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex seeks to change this perception.
Known as “ballerina’s ballet” in the dance scene, Giselle was developed during the Romantic Age and marked one of the high points of classical ballet history.
Losing the faith
TERRORISM is a booming industry right up there with government corruption. Since I could remember, kidnappings, hostage situations, senseless bombings, and bloody murders have always covered the front pages of major dailies.
What? Me? Worry?
THIS is not going to be an easy semester.
This reality crashed down on me when I went to our scheduled enrolment just a few days ago.
I decided to come late since I only had a few subjects to enroll so as to avoid getting in line for the pre-enrollment sheets. However, when I arrived at the Faculty, I saw my batch mates scattered around as if waiting for something. I suddenly suspected an irregularity. Being the curious cat that I am, I asked around to know the cause of their agitation.
