WITH a number of programs and projects ready to run, the Central Student Council (CSC) is out to make its presence felt by Thomasian students this school year.

Incoming CSC president Halutz Parilla said that starting July, the council will coordinate with the University’s different colleges for alternative class programs, a year-long series of lectures to be held for free on Saturdays.

“Actually, this was already done by the past administration, but they just made it into a University Week. This time we will offer it year-long,” incoming CSC Treasurer Neil Payam Tadi said.

The CSC also plans to improve student participation through the installation of bulletin boards around the campus and the continuation of previous projects like the Info-Text and Message in a Bottle.

To start with, the incoming CSC board organized Unang Hirit, a camping/team-building seminar that involved the incoming presidents of local student councils last May 5 to 7.

Another project is the amendment of the Central Committee on Elections Omnibus Election Code. Parilla hopes that it will be ratified this coming July.

“This time, mas papaigtingin namin ang pagkakakilala ng mga estudyante sa CSC. It will be more on reaching out to the students. As we all know, there is still 40 percent of the student population who do not know about the CSC,” said Parilla. Mary Abigail S. Austriaco
