COLLEGE of Architecture students dominated the Servitek Retail Identity Target Design Competition, placing first and third, last Nov. 9 at the Goodyear Head office in Las Piñas City.

The group of Martin Phillipe Vergara, Odessa Flores and Isaiah Israel Susi under the supervision of Architect Jonathan Manalad won first prize, students from Far Eastern University placed second, and the group of Architecture students Jerome Tiu and Jonathan dela Cruz under Architect Manuel Mejia took third place.

The best architecture schools vied to design the facilities of Servitek, Goodyear’s auto-service shop, which offers a full range of mechanical services, specializing in computer-aided wheel alignment and balancing, and under-chassis repair.

“Goodyear wanted an image that would look inexpensive and affordable but still showcasing its quality in service,” Manalad said. “And the adaptable concept of Vergara, Flores and Susi suited the company’s plan.”

“We concentrated more on the facade because it will affect most the impression that customers will have on Servitek. We wanted the structure to look modern and rythmically made,” Susi said. “We also injected element representing Filipino consumers, making it ‘a design for the Filipinos’.”
