FORMER UST Rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa called upon the members of the Dominican Network of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (Domnet) to reach out to other schools to contribute to the network’s growth.
De la Rosa, Domnet’s founding president, stressed the importance of unity and the concern for every member in the growing network during the celebration of its 10th anniversary last week.
“Intensify the sense of belongingness for every member,” he said.
Around 400 students and academicians from various Dominican schools in the country attended the three-day gathering of Dominican institutions at the Albertus Magnus and Medicine auditoriums last Nov. 16-18.
To mark its 10th anniversary, Domnet held simultaneous seminars on 10 instructional innovations, conducted 10 researches, 10 extension programs, and 10 information programs for the school administrators. Also a film festival, showcased 10 documentary films in education from San Juan de Letran College and UST.
Meanwhile, youth members attended workshops on music, dance, theatre and visual arts, and presented newly honed skills during the Domnet night, which was held on the second day.
Domnet was founded in 1995 by 11 Dominican tertiary institutions including UST, make theor presence felt in the country’s educational associations and policy-making bodies for education. Domnet also aimed to support Dominican elementary and secondary schools that were competing against public schools in terms of quality education.
