– THE UST Faculty
Union (USTFU) will  give back P10 million worth of savings accumulated
from 2010 up to this year to members starting today.

USTFU President
George Lim said the savings would be distributed to eligible members because
the union had “more than enough funds.”

“The P10 million
is only what we saved during [my] term of office,” Lim said in an interview
with the Varsitarian. “We
have the data of the people who contributed to that [fund], nandiyan pa
sila
so fresh pa ‘yung mga records.”

The distribution
of the savings will be computed based on a union member’s teaching load. The highest
amount a member can get is P18,000, with the full 24-unit teaching load.

Tenured
professors, lecturers hired before 2001, retirees, and administrative officials
with teaching loads from 2010 until next year are qualified to a get a share of
the savings.

Union members can
claim their checks from their respective faculty club presidents by submitting
an accomplished membership identification form.

For retired professors, individual distribution
will begin on Oct. 15 at the USTFU office. Arianne
