Oct. 16, 2014, 7:34 a.m. – THOMASIAN writers graced the
pages of Ani 38, the official literary journal of the Cultural Center of the
Philippines (CCP) launched Wednesday evening in Pasay.

Bearing the theme “Ang Katawan” (“The Human
Body”), the 38th issue of the literary journal featured 147 entries
including contributions from notable Thomasian writers like Alma Anonas
Carpio, Vim Nadera, John Sanchez, and Frank Rivera.

The literary folio, released as part of CCP’s 45th
anniversary celebration, contained the works of 71 writers in English,
Filipino, Spanish and local dialects such as Akeanon, Bikol, Hiligaynon,
Ilokano, Ilokano-Baguio, and Pangasinan.

This year’s theme broke away from the
“abstraction” of previous themes. Herminio Beltran,
editor-in-chief of the folio, said the shifting of themes was inevitable in
modern writing. “In modern literature, hindi dapat masyadong ‘malinis’
[ang iyong gawa] kasi nawawala ang pagka-modern nito,” he said.

Beltran announced that the next release of Ani would be in
2016, with the theme “Kahayupan” or the “Animal Kingdom.”

The call for entries for Ani 38 was opened in
2012. E. M. S. Cunanan and J. B. M. Ramil
