September 11, 2015, 12:51a.m. – THE UNIVERSITY emerged as the
top school in the recent Electrical Engineering Licensure Examinations, after
getting a 98.61-percent passing rate.

Results released by the Professional Regulation Commission
showed that 71 out of 72 Thomasian examinees made the cut.

UST’s passing rate this year was higher than last year’s
95.16 percent, wherein 59 out of 62 Thomasian examinees passed the exams.

An alumnus, Cyrus Evangelista, placed eighth overall with a
passing rate of 89.60 percent.

Evangelista shared the post with Arger Bondoc of Holy Angel
University, Abrehn Gacang of the University of Southeastern Phillipines-Davao
City, Orlando Jularbal of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-San
Fernando and Gerald Mirano of Rizal Technological University.

The national passing rate went up to 63.01 percent,
equivalent to 2,536 passers out of 3,772 examinees, from last year’s 59.89
percent or 2,190 passers out of 3,661 examinees.

For a school to be named a top-performing school, it has to
meet the minimum requirement of an 80-percent passing rate and at least 50
examinees. Kathryn Jedi V. Baylon
