April 18, 2016, 05:31p.m. – UST HAS been chosen by the United Kingdom’s oldest Catholic university to be its central partner in the Asia-Pacific region.

The University is the first to be designated by St. Mary’s University Twickenham as partner in Asia, and joins five other partners around the world.

“It comes with the history of institutions. We approach education in different ways but our common ground is that Catholic university network,” St. Mary’s Vice Chancellor Francis Campbell said in a press conference earlier today at the Buenaventura G. Paredes, O.P. Building.

Acting Rector Rev. Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. and Campbell signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing academic exchanges between students and staff.

Ang and Campbell were joined by UST Office of Public Affairs Director Giovanna Fontanilla and St. Mary’s Partnerships and Global Enterprise head David Reggio.

Founded in 1850, St. Mary’s specializes in teacher education and has a growing number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs related to sports, drama, theology and business.

In January 2014, St. Mary’s was raised to university status by the Privy Council that advises Queen Elizabeth II. Pope Benedict XVI visited the campus in 2010. Roy Abrahmn D.R. Narra

  1. The one joining them is Prof. Lilian J. Sison, Ph. D., Director of International Relations and Programs of UST, not Assoc. Prof. Fontanilla.
