No need for a Paskuhan date.
UST’s Christmas festivities will be held online this year amid restrictions on in-person gatherings brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s Paskuhan celebrations will kick off with the lighting of the Christmas Tree on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 6 p.m., at the UST Grandstand. It will be followed by a Christmas concert that will begin at 6:05 p.m, to be mounted by the Conservatory of Music and the Communications Bureau.
The Paskuhan Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 17, 5 p.m., at the Santisimo Rosario Parish.
A “Concert for a Cause” will be held on Friday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. It will feature a mini-documentary of previous Paskuhan concerts and fireworks.
“We’ll only broadcast pre-recorded performances so there will be no actual concert on University grounds,” Central Student Council (CSC) Executive Secretary Krizia Bricio told the Varsitarian.
All events will be broadcast on the official UST Facebook page.
The theme of this year’s Christmas celebration is “Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel.”

Charity concert
Arnet Paguirigan, executive coordinator to the CSC secretary, said the concert proceeds would go to a partner community of UST Legazpi in Albay.
“Since the affected communities are now in [the] rehabilitation phase, we will be giving cash donations for the rehabilitation of our beneficiary community,” she said.
Paguirigan said even non-Thomasians would be able to participate in the donation drive by depositing funds in the account numbers to be flashed during the Paskuhan broadcast.
Last year’s Paskuhan set a record number of attendees, with more than 105,000 Thomasians and guests attending the concert and pyromusical display at the UST open field.
