FORMER UST rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa O.P., bagged the best opinion column award in the 43rd Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) on Dec. 26.
De la Rosa won the award for his Manila Bulletin column, “Through Untrue,” which comes out every Sunday.
The Varsitarian, the 93-year-old official student publication of UST, was among the finalists in the best college student organ category.
“Sa Lilim Ng ‘Yong Pagkalinga,” a song by the late UST Center for Campus Ministry director, Assoc. Prof. Richard Pazcoguin, was among the finalists in the best inspirational song category.
Alvin Kasiban, former chief photographer of the Varsitarian, was a runner-up in the best news photograph category for his photo for the Manila Bulletin titled, “Eased Restriction.”
The Aquinian, the official student publication of UST Junior High School, was also a finalist in the best high school student organ category.
UST Angelicum College bagged twin victories in the best TV production category with “Angel In Disguise” and “Tanglaw sa Dilim.”
UST Angelicum was also among the finalists in the best short film, best student public service television advertisement, and best student public service radio advertisement categories.
There were 366 finalists in this year’s CMMA, which awarded mass media works with criteria based on Christian values and ideals.The 43rd CMMA carried the same theme as the celebration of the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines, “Gifted to Give.” Jamilah B. Angco
