CLASSES and work in UST will remain suspended until Jan. 21 in line with the week-long “health break” ordered by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, the Office of the Secretary General announced on Thursday.

In a memorandum, UST Secretary General Fr. Louie Coronel, O.P. said the second term for Academic Year (AY) 2021-2022 would begin on Jan. 26 for senior high school and college.

Basic education classes will resume on Jan. 24.

Despite the suspension of work, Coronel said online assessment and payment would remain open for students who were already advised. Enrollment will resume on Jan. 24 to 25.

UST earlier suspended office work and classes at all levels from Jan. 10 to 15 amid increasing Covid-19 cases in the country.

“The University appeals to the Thomasian community to do their part in the strict observance and adherence to health protocols, and to extend help to those in need, in whatever means possible,” Coronel said.

Domagoso earlier on Thursday declared a Manila-wide “health break” from Jan. 14 to 21.

“Ito po ay para mabawasan ang anxiety level nating lahat dulot ng tumataas na kaso ng Covid-19. Mag-ingat po palagi,” the mayor, who is running for president in the May elections, said.
