THE ANGELICUM School Iloilo (ASIL) has endorsed the presidential and vice-presidential bids of Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo and Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

In a Facebook post, the Dominican-led school cited the certifications and accreditations from the Commission on Audit and the International Organization for Standardization received by the Office of the Vice President under Robredo.

“These certifications and ratings plus many other accomplishments of the OVP mirror the kind of leadership we will have if VP Leni will be the next President of the Republic of the Philippines,” the school said in a May 3 Facebook post.

The post included two photos of the Lizares Mansion: one lit up in pink, Robredo’s official campaign color, and another with a tarpaulin that said, “Dapat si Leni.”

ASIL is part of Iloilo Catholic Educators Discern (ICED), a network of Iloilo Catholic schools, that released a statement of support for the Leni-Kiko tandem.

“Because they best witness by their words and actions the values that are important to us as Catholic educators, our common discernment has led us to endorse Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo for president and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan for vice President,” the statement read.

“We therefore enjoin our school communities—students, teachers, staff, administrators, parents, alumni and friends—to likewise support these candidates for the sake of God and country! Iboto natin sina Leni at Kiko dahil sila ay makatotohanan, hindi sinungaling; mapagkalinga, hindi mapagsamantala; tapat, hindi mandaraya,” it continued.

The statement was signed by Angelicum School Principal Fr. John Stephen Besa, O.P., and heads of 18 other Iloilo Catholic schools.
