THE UNIVERSITY emerged as the No. 2 top-performing school in the December 2023 licensure examinations for physical therapists, in which three Thomasians landed in the top 10. 

UST produced the most number of passers in the exams, with 152 out of 156 making the cut, good for a 97.44-percent passing rate.  

This was a slight improvement from 95.16 percent in June 2023, where 118 out of 124 Thomasian examinees passed. 

John Ramos led the batch of newly minted Thomasian physical therapists after placing third nationwide with a score of 89.35 percent.

Joining Ramos in the top 10 were Thomasians Anna Mantuano at No. 4 (89.30 percent) and Precious Carambas at No. 5 (89.05 percent).

Angelica Dela Victoria of Riverside College topped the exams after scoring 89.70 percent.

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila was named the top-performing school for the physical therapy board exams.  It obtained a passing rate of 98.23 percent, or 111 out of 113 examinees. 

The national passing rate for physical therapists in the December 2023 licensure exams dipped to 68.37 percent (1,288 of 1,884) from 69.01 percent (708 of 1,026) in June. 

Occupational therapists 

Three other Thomasians figured in the top 10 of the separate licensure exams for occupational therapists, in which it logged a 70.73-percent passing rate.

Marie Limon led the fresh crop of Thomasian occupational therapists with a score of 82.60 percent, the fifth highest mark nationwide. 

UST alumni Elyssa Manuel (81.80 percent) and Kyle Lao (81.40 percent) also entered the top 10 at No. 8 and No. 10, respectively. 

A total of 58 out of 82 Thomasian examinees made the cut in the December 2023 exam cycle. 

The University’s passing rate declined from the 82.61 percent it recorded in June 2023, wherein 19 out of 23 examinees passed. 

Kizha Gabutan of the University of the Philippines Manila snagged the No. 1 spot in the exams with an 85-percent score. 

The national passing rate declined to 58.30 percent (23 of 554) from 59.53 percent (128 of 215) in June.

The licensure exams for physical and occupational therapists were held from Dec. 1 to 2.
