FOR THE first time in four years, the filing of the Certificates of Candidacy (COC) for this year’s UST Central Student Council (CSC) elections will be held in person, the UST Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced.

In an order released on Jan. 29, the Central Comelec said the filing of COCs would be on Feb. 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tan Yan Kee Student Center.

This will be the first onsite filing since the Covid-19 pandemic, during which the filing of COCs was conducted via Zoom.

CSC hopefuls with deficiencies may submit documents by Feb. 12.

The Central Comelec will release the final list of candidates on Feb. 13.

The campaign period will start on Feb. 14 and will run until April 17. No campaign activities will be allowed from March 5 to 16 due to the moratorium period and preliminary examinations, and from March 25 to April 1 due to the Easter break.

This year’s campaign period will be significantly longer than last year’s, with candidates now allowed to post materials for a total of 44 days. Last year’s campaign period ran for only seven days.

Tagisan, the mandatory debate for candidates running for executive board posts, will be held on April 13.

The University-wide election period is slated for April 22 to 27.

The canvassing of votes and proclamation of the new set of Thomasian leaders will be on April 27.
