Ilang estudyante ng UST nagdaos ng noise barrage kontra DAP

23 Agosto 2014, 10:22 a.m. - NAGSAGAWA ng isang noise barrage sa harapan ng UST ang ilang mag-aaral upang ipabatid ang kanilang pagkondena sa Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

Pinangunahan ng Youth Act Now, mga konseho ng Faculty of Civil Law at Faculty of Arts and Letters, at UST Yellow Jackets ang noise barrage kahapon na pinamagatang, “DAPat Managot, DAPat Mag-ingay," na naglayong humikayat sa kabataan na makialam sa isyu ng korapsyon sa bansa.

Aplikasyon sa USTET ganap nang online

MAGPAPATUPAD ng sistemang online ang Office of Admissions (OFAd) para sa lahat ng magnanais kumuha ng UST Entrance Test (USTET) sa taong pang-akademiko 2015-2016.

Ayon kay Marie Ann Vargas, direktor ng OFAd, isang hakbang ng Unibersidad ang naturang pagbabago upang sumabay sa bilis ng teknolohiya at mapadali ang proseso ng aplikasyon.

“This is the idea of making things easier for our applicants. Basically, they can do everything online,” aniya. “The only time they will come to UST is when they take the exams.”

Sa bagong sistema ng aplikasyon, sasagutan at ida-download ang application form mula sa website ng OFAd (ofad.ust.edu.ph).

Civil Law student council pabor sa impeachment ni Aquino

SINUPORTAHAN ng lokal na student council at Legislative Board of Class Presidents ng Faculty of Civil Law ang mga inihaing impeachment complaints laban sa Pangulong Benigno Aquino III kaugnay ng Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

Sa opisyal na pahayag sa Facebook noong Hulyo 31, idineklara nila ang kanilang pagtutol sa anila'y hindi makatarungang paggamit ng P144.38 bilyon, sa ilalim ng DAP, para sa mga proyektong hindi kasama sa pambansang badyet.

Thomasians help in UST cleanup after ‘Glenda’

17 July 2014, 9:43 p.m. - MORE THAN 200 students trooped to UST Thursday to help clean up the campus after the onslaught of Typhoon "Glenda."

The Student Organizations Coordinating Council (SOCC) and the Central Student Council (CSC) assisted the Facilities Management Office (FMO) in a clearing and cleaning operation.

“Nakaka-overwhelm 'yung response ng Thomasian community, akala namin puro mga councils lang 'yung pupunta pero pati freshmen nag-volunteer din,” SOCC President Danisse Odiña said in an interview.

House committee wants draft of K to 12 fund by September

15 July 2014, 10:49 p.m. - THE HOUSE Committee on Higher and Technical Education is urging government agencies to finalize the draft of the proposed P29-billion stabilization fund that will compensate teachers to be displaced by the K to 12 scheme, if they want it to be passed into law before the transition period in 2016.

UST welcomes more than 13,000 freshmen

11 July 2014, 8:06 p.m. - FRESHMEN marched through the historic Arch of the Centuries today, marking the beginning of their academic lives in the Pontifical University.

This year’s Thomasian Welcome Walk for the 13,049 freshmen enrolled for the first term of Academic Year 2014-2015 was scheduled a week before the official start of classes, to avoid heavy rains.

The traditional rite of passage was divided into two batches to accommodate the large number of first-year students.

Sofiya Salim, an Accountancy freshman, said she officially became a Thomasian after the traditional walk.

P29B fund for schools, teachers affected by K to 12 proposed

25 June 2014, 6:24 a.m. - FOUR GOVERNMENT agencies are proposing a P29-billion fund to compensate teaching and non-teaching employees of higher education institutions (HEIs) who will lose their jobs during the transition period of the K to 12 program in 2016.
