AS THE University of Santo Tomas Hospital (USTH) prepares for the coming school year, a new building to house services from the private and clinical divisions is being constructed.
According to project manager and College of Architecture Dean Arch. Augusto Concio, the addition of the new building will generate more cost-effective operations resulting in more efficient health services.
He cited, for example, the new automated air-condition system that will be installed in the building. The system automatically switches off when a room is not in use.
The building, Concio explained, will house a centralized pharmacy and will also have conference rooms equipped with IT-based features such as video teleconferencing. A central supply system, where medical equipment and stocks are stored, is another feature.
Concio said that the construction is estimated at P16 million.
He added that most of the problems encountered are purely technical and have already been solved. The building’s construction, which started last year, is expected to be finished by September. Michael Louie C. Celis and Jose Bimbo F. Santos
