Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona, 66, was installed as the new archbishop of Caceres last Nov. 14.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Tirona as the successor of Caceres Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi, O.P., the first Filipino rector of UST, last September.

Tirona, a Carmelite, was born on July 22, 1946 in Kawit, Cavite. He was ordained priest on April 21, 1974.

In 1996, he was appointed Bishop of Malolos and served the diocese for six years, before being transferred to the Prelature of Infanta in 2003. Gervie Kay S. Estella
