A THOMASIAN won first place in the “Art Petron: The 2nd National Student Art Competition” last Aug. 23 at the Petron Mega Plaza, Makati City.

With the theme “Lumang Galing, Bagong Sining,” the entries in oil and watercolor depicted age-old Filipino crafts and skills handed down through generations.

College of Fine Arts and Design Advertising Arts senior Mark Ramsel Salvatus III landed first in the oil painting category for his work “Balwarte ni Lolo, Ang Aming Munting Kastilyo.”

During last year’s competition, Salvatus was runner-up in the same category. Recently, Salvatus took second place in an on-the-spot painting contest sponsored by the Art Association of the Philippines. Teodoro Lorenzo A. Fernandez
