FACULTY of Civil Law (Civil Law) professor Judge Philip Aguinaldo intends to focus on providing guidance to student advisers on legal matters in his second term as Philippine Association of Campus Student Advisers (Pacsa) president.

The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court judge said he plans to create a handbook on parliamentary procedure for student advisers and establish links with the Commission on Higher Education (Ched), aside from reinforcing UST’s role as “big brother to smaller schools.”

“It’s a way for me to share legal knowledge to fellow campus advisers, since not all of them have a background in law,” Aguinaldo said.

Aguinaldo and Prof. Rosario Aranda, who teaches English and Literature in the Faculty of Pharmacy (Pharmacy), were re-elected Pacsa president and Pacsa National Capital Region division vice-president.

Former UST Rector and Ched Chair Fr. Rolando Dela Rosa, O.P. inducted the Pacsa officers last March 19 at the Civil Law Lobby.

In an interview with the Varsitarian, Dela Rosa said he was confident of Thomasians’ ability to lead campus advisers.

“In terms of student advising, UST is very organized, not only in academics, but also in research,” Dela Rosa said.

Aguinaldo, who finished his Political Science degree at the Faculty of Arts and Letters in 1979, served his first term as Pacsa president from 1990 to 1998. He teaches Civil Law subjects and Criminal Law at the Faculty of Civil Law where he graduated cum laude in 1983. Aranda, on the other hand, was Pacsa NCR vice-president from 2001 to 2003.

Both Aguinaldo and Aranda will serve two-year terms.
