December 26, 2015, 7:01p.m. – THREE Accountancy seniors won a tax case competition held in UST and Makati last Dec. 13 to 15.
Jean Lotardo, Paula Navata and Myra Olalia bested 15 contestants from other schools in “Syntax: The 1st KPMG Tax Case Competition.”
The competition was composed of a seminar with tax associates and supervisors from Makati-based audit firm RG Manabat and Co., preliminary competitions, quiz bees and the tax case competition proper.
Navata said UST Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) President Liezel Matutino helped the team complete the contest requirements. Clarens Navor, UST JPIA adviser, accompanied the group.
The Technological Institute of the Philippines finished second, while Asia-Pacific College finished third.
The academic competition was organized by KPMG, the Dutch global auditing firm, in partnership with RG Manabat and Co., its Philippine branch, to encourage accounting students to learn more about tax. Mary Grace C. Esmaya
