Unang Pilipinong obispo sa US, nagbalik

“These were not achievements. These are just living testimonies of God’s grace residing in me (and) that everything in my life as a priest is a gift and a testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness,” ayon kay Obispo Solis na kasalukuyang auxiliary bishop ng archdiocese sa Los Angeles.

Nagprotesta ang ilang aktibistang kababaihan noong ika-9 ng Agosto sa harap ng tanggapan ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines sa Intramuros, Manila, upang ipaglaban ang karapatan ng mga kababaihan sa dokumento ng Vatican na pinamagatang “Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Collaboration of Men and Women in the Church and in the World.”

God’s young army

YOU SEE them hanging around Tinoko Park every Tuesdays and Fridays. You think they’re there for the same reasons you would have—catching up with friends, studying, relaxing, or killing time—so you never give them much thought until they gather round and start singing and praying. For someone unfamiliar, they may look odd and naïve. But any Tinoko Park regular would tell you the Youth for Christ (YFC) are just having another prayer meeting.

Ang kauna-unahang School for Midwives

New anti-osteoporisis drug found

There’s now a better pill for brittle bones.

A strontium-containing anti-osteoporosis drug was found to effectively lessen risks of bone factures in postmenopausal osteoporotics after a three-year study.

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, strontium ranelate, an orally administered drug, reduces risks of vertebral fractures and increases bone mineral density by increasing bone formation and lowering bone resorption or gradual bone loss.

College of Nursing joins ‘piracy’

AS A RESULT of the rising global demand for nurses, the College of Nursing (Nursing) has joined the bandwagon of hiring and “pirating” faculty members.

According to Nursing Dean Glenda Vargas, the College has been hiring recent graduates, instructors, and professors from other schools to replace about 20 faculty members who left the University for greener pastures.
